Apex Carnivore
Allosaurus
Allosaurus fragilis
“Different lizard”
Versatile mid-tier carnivore — strong bleed, fast healing, lethal in skilled hands.

In The Isle
Allosaurus is slightly larger and stronger than Carnotaurus and Ceratosaurus, but slower. It remains faster than apex predators like Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus, though weaker overall. It's considered a balanced mid-tier predator — second only to Suchomimus among non-apex carnivores — and its main strength lies in bleed damage, which makes it deadly in hit-and-run tactics. Allosaurus was added to The Isle in Patch 0.0.0.85.
In Real Life
Allosaurus shared its ecosystem with Torvosaurus and was one of the dominant predators of the Morrison Formation — often nicknamed the 'lions of the Jurassic.' It could run between 30 and 55 km/h and likely hunted in packs or opportunistically; its habitat was semi-arid with forests and floodplains. The Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry contains one of the highest concentrations of Allosaurus fossils on Earth, making up 67% of the remains found there. Its jaw could open between 79° and 92°, allowing a powerful 'hatchet bite' similar to birds of prey — the teeth were serrated, ideal for slicing flesh, though the bite force itself was relatively weak. Its brain resembled that of modern crocodiles, suggesting sensitivity to low-frequency sounds. Most specimens measured around 8.5 m; the largest reached 9.7 m, with fragmentary remains suggesting individuals up to 13 m long.

- • Fast ambush burst (44.5 km/h vs 34.2 km/h base)
- • Among the best healing rates on the roster
- • Long hunger timer (~2h) — sustained patrols
- • Good turn radius — outmaneuvers most apex predators

Behavior
Versatile mid-tier predator — strong bleed, fast healing, reliable in both solo and group play. Excels in attrition fights and ambushes, punishes mid-tiers, and supports coordinated group hunts. Forgiving for beginners; lethal in skilled hands.
