Mid Carnivore
Dilophosaurus
Dilophosaurus wetherilli
“Wetherill's two-crested lizard”
Nocturnal predator — best night vision on the roster, signature venomous/bleed kit.

In The Isle
Quick and small, Dilophosaurus is a nocturnal hunter with the best night vision and (historically) the highest bleed damage on the roster. It can easily take down smaller herbivores and AI prey like Orodromeus and Psittacosaurus, and can pick fights with small carnivores such as Utahraptor — though any ambushing Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, or Carnotaurus will outrun and kill it. In Evrima's sixth update, Dilo's notorious bleed kit is being replaced by a **hallucinogenic venom** mechanic — bites delivered after sunset leave the target wondering what's real and what's not. The official roadmap frames it: "Significantly larger than the Troodon… equipped with exceptional night vision and a nasty venomous bite." Dilophosaurus is confirmed for Evrima as part of Update #7.
In Real Life
Dilophosaurus was a giant theropod for its time in the Early Jurassic, measuring around 7 meters (23 ft) long and possibly weighing 400 kg (880 lb). It appears to have been a fast, agile runner. Its most distinctive feature was the pair of rounded crests on its skull, formed from extensions of the nasal and lacrimal bones — considered too delicate for anything but display. Its diet has been debated: originally thought of as a terrestrial predator, then a piscivore or scavenger (due to relatively weak jaws), and now generally regarded as a generalist carnivore that preyed on whatever it could. Despite common pop-culture depictions, the real Dilophosaurus is not known to have been venomous and lacked a neck frill.

Strengths & Weaknesses
- + Highest bleed damage (Legacy)
- + Best night vision on the roster
- + 3rd fastest carnivore in Survival
- + Short growth time
- + Low hunger
- + Very fast scent while moving
- + Drinks fast
- + Good default coloration for day-time camo
- + High bleed damage means it can wear down even larger animals (e.g. Tyrannosaurus)
- + Very fast trot — nearly Giganotosaurus-equivalent
- + Very fast heal
- + Weird tail hit-box makes it hard to land tail hits on
- − Bleeding out opponents can take a while — skill-dependent
- − Must avoid most major dinosaurs, especially during the day
- − Vulnerable to ambushing Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Utahraptor, or Carnotaurus
- − Eats very slowly and loudly
- − Utahraptors can tail-ride — large turn radius on both z-walk and trot
- − Small bite hit-box + short active duration — hard to land hits
- − Abysmal crouch speed
Behavior
Dilo plays nocturnal — slips in after dark when night vision tips the scales, bleeds/venoms its mark, and retreats. Daytime play is high-risk: most major predators outclass Dilo in a straight fight. Pack play stacks DoT effects for taking down much larger prey.
