Apex Carnivore
Tyrannosaurus
Tyrannosaurus rex
“Tyrant lizard king”
The Isle's headline apex — slowest of the big carnivores, but a finisher when it lands the bite.

In The Isle
The Tyrannosaurus is an apex predator capable of hunting nearly every creature on the island except the Puertasaurus. T. rex is a solitary apex — it relies on ambush tactics rather than long pursuits, often staking out water sources or carcasses and waiting for prey to come to it. Juveniles are more agile and opportunistic; adults dominate through sheer power and a crushing bone-breaking bite. A juvenile rex hunts small herbivores and scavenges carrion; sub-adults move up to hadrosaurs and young apex predators; adults can take almost anything on the roster.
In Real Life
Tyrannosaurus rex was the largest known tyrannosaurid — an apex predator of Late Cretaceous North America that weighed 8–11 tons, stood 4 m tall, and measured 13 m in length. Its crushing bite force is estimated at 35,000–57,000 N, the most powerful of any terrestrial animal, capable of preying on large herbivores such as Edmontosaurus and Triceratops. Juveniles were fast and agile, while adults were slower but immensely powerful. Recent studies suggest T. rex was not a pursuit predator but an ambush hunter, with a walking speed comparable to humans.
Abilities
- • Bone-Breaking Bite — cripples prey mobility (70% chance)
- • Ambush Speed — short bursts of speed to surprise prey
- • High Regeneration — fastest health recovery among apex predators
Strengths & Weaknesses
- + 3rd highest apex damage (behind Cama & Shant stomp)
- + Fastest health regeneration among apex predators
- + 70% bone-break chance — cripples enemy mobility
- + Good ambush speed
- + Long hunger timer
- + Sub-adult is one of the strongest mid-tier dinos
- − Worst turn radius among apex carnivores
- − Poor bleed resistance
- − Very slow base movement
- − Stamina only regenerates while sitting
- − Short ambush window
- − Faces direct competition from Giganotosaurus
Behavior
In both Legacy and Evrima, T. rex is a solitary apex predator. It relies on ambush tactics rather than long pursuits — juveniles are more agile and opportunistic, while adults dominate through sheer power. Often seen near water sources or carcasses, waiting to ambush prey that wanders into range.
Growth
Total ~6.3 hours (380 min) on a perfect diet: Hatchling 0.5h, Juvenile 1.7h, Sub-Adult 3.7h, Adult 1.7h.
Strategy
Solo — rely on ambush and the bone-break to keep prey from kiting you. Group — coordinate with other rexes to cut off escape routes. Versus Giganotosaurus — open with bone break to cripple, then outlast its bleed. Versus Shantungosaurus — avoid the stomp, attack from the sides. Survival — stay near cover and water so retreats are short.
