Prime & Prime Elder
Last updated: May 28, 2026
Prime is The Isle: Evrima's endgame status. It's how the game rewards full-lifecycle play — players who reach adult AND have lived their species's arc (nested, migrated, fed correctly, raised young) get a permanent buff on top of the already-tough adult form. Hit 5 of the 10 Prime conditions and you become Prime eligible. After that, the new Elder stage layers on top — and the harder-to-earn Prime Elder tier sits above that.

The 10 Prime conditions
Each of these counts as one tick toward Prime. Hit 5 of 10 before reaching 75% growth and you become Prime eligible. Three are passive (#7, #8, #10) — those tick automatically as long as you don't catch a specific harmful mutation, or as long as you're playing one of the listed species. The other seven are active — you have to actually go do them during this dino's life.
Heads-up on small species: per community testing, the small five (Hypsi / Troodon / Beipi / Dryo / Deino) only need 4 of 10 instead of 5 — their lower base threat is balanced by an easier Prime gate.
Visit a Sanctuary as a Juvenile
ActiveFind any Sanctuary zone and step inside the active boundary while you're still at juvenile growth. Easy to do early — make it the first stop after your starter spawn.
Get Nested In
ActiveBe born from another player's nest — spawn into the game by joining their nest from the character-select screen (requires the parent to share a passcode for private nests, or to have set the nest Public).
Get Perfect Diet (1% of each)
ActiveAt some point, simultaneously have at least 1% in all three of β / γ / α. Doesn't need to be high — just every bar above zero at the same time. Stop by a Salt Lick or eat all three macro foods in a session.
Visit Mass Migration Zone
ActiveStand inside any active Mass Migration zone. These are the larger event-scale migrations that occasionally trigger across the map.
Visit 2 Migration Zones
ActiveTwo different (regular) Migration zones over the course of your life. Follow the active one for your species, then catch the next one when this one moves.
Visit 4 Patrol Zones
ActiveFour different Patrol zones over your life. Patrol zones are smaller — pop into them as you traverse the map; doesn't take much to satisfy this.
Never be infertile
PassiveDon't catch the Infertility mutation. This is auto-pass unless RNG specifically rolls Infertility on you.
Never get muscle spasms
PassiveDon't catch the Muscle Spasms mutation. Per community testing, Muscle Spasms is triggered by eating your own species (cannibalism) — so if you're not a natural cannibal species like Cerato, just don't eat your own kind. Auto-pass for most playstyles.
Raise children to subadult
ActiveHatch eggs from your nest and shepherd a hatchling joiner to ~50% growth (subadult in the new scale). The hardest active condition — depends on someone else surviving.
Be a Hypsi/Troodon/Beipi/Dryo/Deino
PassiveAuto-met if you're playing one of those five species. Other species don't get this credit automatically — they need an extra active condition to fill the slot.
What earning Prime actually does
Prime isn't a separate spawn or an unlock you carry between dinos — it's a flag on your current dino. When you hit 5/10, your dino's in-game stats apply their Prime variants: faster regen, slightly higher caps, one extra mutation slot, and Prime Elder eligibility at 100% growth.
Frail (no Prime)
- • 3 mutation slots
- • Base species stats
- • Normal Elder at 100% (if species qualifies)
Prime (5/10 earned)
- • 4 mutation slots
- • Higher caps + faster regen during the Prime window
- • Prime Elder eligibility at 100%
Prime status is per dino-life. Die and re-spawn — you start the checklist over on the new dino, regardless of species. Storing a dino via a server's storage system (where available) preserves your Prime conditions on the card so a claim restores your progress; a real death wipes them.
The Prime window — 75% to 87%
Prime isn't permanent once earned — it activates inside a growth window. The shape is:
Even with 5/10 conditions met, the Prime buffs haven't kicked in yet — you're still subadult. Conditions you've completed lock in and wait.
Prime activates at 75%. Stats climb steadily through this band and hit peak Prime at 87% — the absolute strongest version of your species. Fight, hunt, and contest here.
After the 87% peak, strength drops as the dino ages toward the Elder transition. You're still above pre-Prime baseline — but past your peak.
The window is why finishing your Prime conditions early matters — if you hit 5/10 right as you cross 75% growth, you get the full ~12% growth-band of peak Prime stats. Earning them right before 100% means you barely use them before transitioning to Elder.
Prime peaks higher than Elder at 87%, but its debuff after 87% is sharper — Elder is the lower-amplitude version of the same arc
The Elder stage — what happens at 100%
Elder is a growth stage that lives after 100% adult. Until June 2025 there was no stage beyond adult; the Elder system added a new growth curve per species that activates once you reach 100% AND your species qualifies.
- Each species has its own Elder curve. The dev team rebuilt the growth-curve system specifically to allow multiple entries per species — so a Rex Elder progresses differently from a Hypsi Elder.
- Has its own UI + animations. Elder isn't just a stat flip — there's an in-game indicator and species get unique anims at this stage.
- Sits on top of Prime status — the Elder stage knows whether you earned Prime. If you did, you become a Prime Elder. If you didn't, you become a regular Elder.
Entomb — the Elder respawn loop
Once you've hit 100% adult and qualified for the Elder stage, Entombbecomes available. It's the official endgame loop — straight from the Patch 0.21.321 (Dec 23, 2025) Steam announcement:
The net effect is an Elder-loop: grind to 100% → entomb → re-grow with stronger mutations → reach 100% again with an even bigger pool to pick from. Rewards long-term commitment to a single species line instead of constantly re-rolling new dinos.
Practical limits (community-tested, may shift): max 16 mutations at any time, and the mutation-strength enhancement plateaus after the 2nd Entomb run — additional entombs still give you more picks but the per-mutation boost stops climbing.
Prime Elder — the upgraded tier
Prime Elder is the stronger of the two Elder tiers. Same prerequisites as regular Elder (reach 100% adult + meet your species's Elder curve), plus the extra: you'd earned 5+ of the 10 Prime conditions before reaching adult.
Normal Elder
- • Reach 100% adult + species qualifies
- • Did NOT earn 5+ Prime conditions
- • Stat increases + Elder visual
- • Lesser tier of the two
Prime Elder
- • Reach 100% adult + species qualifies
- • 5+ Prime conditions earned
- • Higher stat increases
- • Distinguishing visual
Specific stat numbers shift between balance patches — treat Prime Elder as the highest tier of your species's lifecycle. If you intend to chase it, plan your Prime checklist before100%; once you're adult, you've locked in which Elder tier you'll get.
Earning Prime — practical plan
The seven active conditions are the real work. Three of them can be knocked out in the first ~30 minutes of a life if you're intentional; the rest are opportunistic.
- Out of the spawn: head straight to the nearest Sanctuary (knocks out #1 — “Visit a Sanctuary as a Juvenile”). Eat the three-combo mushroom while you're there — that also gives you the simultaneous β/γ/α for #3 (Perfect Diet).
- Once you leave the sanctuary: track toward an active Migration zone. Stand inside the boundary — first migration counts toward #5. Pick up #6 (Patrol zones) opportunistically as you traverse the map, since they tend to be scattered.
- Watch for Mass Migration events: #4 only ticks for Mass Migration zones (the larger event-scale ones), not regular migrations. Don't miss the announcement when one fires.
- If you want #2 (Get nested in): you have to die first and re-spawn from a nest. So this only happens on your next dino. Find a parent on Discord or in voice and arrange it.
- #9 (Raise children to subadult) is the long tail. Requires you to be an adult, nest, hatch eggs, and have at least one joiner survive to subadult. The hardest active condition; aim to satisfy 5/10 without it if your playstyle is solo.
Note: passive conditions #7, #8, and #10 can carry you across the threshold without extra effort if you play one of the five auto-#10 species (Hypsi, Troodon, Beipi, Dryo, Deino) and dodge the harmful RNG mutations. A Hypsi who visits a sanctuary, a migration, and gets the perfect diet has 6/10 essentially for free.
The 0.21 growth-scale remap (important context)
As of the 0.21 line, the growth percentages shown in-game are different from the legacy scale. Don't confuse old guides (which used the original 0–100% scale) with what you see now.
| New scale | What it is |
|---|---|
| 25% | New spawn point — every dino now starts here, not at 0%. |
| 50% | Subadult intermediate. Mutation slot 3 unlocks here for Frail dinos. |
| 75% | The new “old 100% adult”. Prime activates here. 4th mutation slot unlocks if you have Prime. Elder system gate. |
| 87% | Peak Prime power. After this, strength tapers. |
| 100% | Aged-out Elder. You go infertile here — can't lay eggs anymore (small species are the exception). This is where Entomb becomes the next move. |
Patch timeline (for context)

Quick tips
- • Use the 4th-slot check to verify Prime. Vanilla has no Prime-tracker UI — the closest thing is the mutation slot test. At 75% growth, try clicking your 4th mutation slot. If it activates, you have Prime. If it stays locked, you're Frail. That tells you faster than guessing.
- • Play one of the auto-#10 species if you want easy mode. Hypsi, Troodon, Beipi, Dryo, Deino get the species condition for free — fewer active ticks needed. Combined with their lower 4/10 threshold, getting Prime on a small species is much more forgiving.
- • Don't die during gestation if chasing #9. Raising children to subadult is fragile. Pick a safe nest spot — sanctuaries are ideal because the bees keep predators out.
- • Plan Prime BEFORE Elder. Hitting Elder without Prime locks you into the lesser tier. There's no later chance to upgrade — die and start a new dino if you want a fresh shot at Prime Elder.
- • Some community servers add their own Prime tracker. A few private servers run custom bots that surface a real Prime checklist on Discord or their player profile page. Vanilla doesn't — check whether your server has one before assuming.
